If the south pole was encapsulated in a single animal, it would be the emperor penguin. While there are eighteen species of penguins, the emperor penguin is what comes to mind when the word 'penguin' is uttered. While emperor penguins symbolize the penguins of the world, the african and magellanic penguins struggle the most amongst man made issues such as climate change, invasive predators, overfishing, and being caught as bycatch. Bycatch, the act of accidently fishing other animals, accounts for the catching of 400,000 seabirds yearly, including penguins. Your donation helps penguins all around the world by preventing fishing in penguin breeding season and sustainable fishing in penguin occupied spaces.
